Morning Coffee

Morning Coffee in the garden, what a treat to have my parents, brother and sister in law and some close friends over for a chilled out morning coffee break out on the veranda.

I love this recipe for "the hummingbird bakery" red velvet cupcakes they are always a hit.I matched them with the flower theme of pink roses in mini milk bottles and blue Hyacinthe's in vintage jelly moulds , which looked lovely with the pink and pale blue napkins.

Max had made mini cupcakes and chocolate ganache sponges ,we used a new oval shaped bun tin made of silicon( so easy to turn out so will definitely encourage him to use that again!)

One of the guests could not eat dairy or wheat so I used Nigella Lawson's fabulous "Venetian Carrot Cake" I did it with a vanilla cream cheese topping on the side so that those who could add some to their  portion had it to hand.  This looked great served on my grandma's wooden cake board, it always brings back childhood memories of Sweden when I use it.

I always like to add something as an extra little treat ,so I made some vanilla fudge and served it in another vintage dish that came back from my last buying trip to Sweden.

It's Chelsea Week-So as a tribute here are some Roses from my garden!

I love this time of year it's Chelsea Flower show, I become all inspired and then look at my own garden and feel that I need to work harder out there to make it look more "Show Garden" than garden no show!! These beautiful orange roses are on the side of the barn and look stunning against the black weatherboards.

These pinks are a shot of colour amongst the yellow rose bush at the front gate , I never understand how that happens....nature is very clever like that.

This heavily scented yellow rose covers the whole of the front of the house, when you open your window in the morning the smell is wonderful. I only hope that this strong wind that they are forecasting in the next few days doesn't blow the petals away too quickly.

This is a William Shakespeare rose which we have in abundance in the rose garden the symmetrical beds are full of this striking rose.

Another pink which runs along the side of the path to the Vegetable patch ,it has a habit of hanging over the pathway which means that I can justify cutting it ,so I then have a lovely arrangement just for myself on the hall table.

This lemon coloured rose has prime position in the main border and loves to be cut, this is a favourite workshop flower and looks wonderful in a mixed hand tied arrangement.

This is a brier rose which in autumn has great rose hips which  I make into  a delicious cordial.

HERE IS MY TRIBUTE TO CHELSEA

Welcome to Peppertree Farm

Welcome to Peppertree Emporium, I hope you will enjoy looking at my photo's of Peppertree Farm. From my barn I run my florestry business where I am able to work with clients to create the flowers of there dreams. I am also able to offer my Barn Shop Collection, I have sourced beautiful vintage china and interior pieces from Scandinavia and across the Continent.

Many of the flowers and foliage that I use within my arrangements are sourced from my garden, there is one and a half acres in total set out into separate rooms created by using box,yew and Maple hedges.

Within the garden there are secret rooms and points of interest like my son Max's bird watching house where he has collected old egg shells and bird feathers. Her has positioned bird tables and feeding tables outside to encourage birds to visit.

I have really loved to create focus areas of interest by using old step ladders and vintage wheelbarrows rescued from an old house sale. I have painted the pieces in Farrow and Ball  Tete Vert which gives continuity throughout the garden.

Twice a year in December and at Easter my friend Nicola and I  hold  Continental Shopping mornings with a fantastic selection of gifts, arrangements and ideas and have our fabulous Barn Tea room offering a huge range of Swedish and German Cakes.

I hope you have enjoyed my first Blogg and hope to be updating you on news from Peppertree Emporium on a regular basis. Thanks you for looking.
